Manchester Pilot Assembly Completes First Phase
The Manchester Citizens' Assembly on Community Budget Allocation has completed its deliberation phase. Thirty-five randomly selected residents spent eight weeks examining evidence, hearing from local organizations, and debating priorities. Their recommendations will be published next week.
This is proof of concept: ordinary people, given time and evidence, make excellent decisions about public resources.
New Research: Sortition Assemblies Outperform Elected Bodies
A new academic study comparing decisions made by randomly-selected citizens' assemblies versus elected legislatures found that assembly recommendations were more evidence-based, less partisan, and enjoyed higher public trust. Read the full analysis in our Reading & Research Collective.

Youth Assembly Launches Housing Justice Campaign
The Youth Assembly has launched a national campaign demanding a public housing program and rent controls. "Our generation has been priced out of housing security entirely," said campaign organizer Maya Chen. "This is a crisis manufactured by policy choices, and we're organizing to change them."
